Dressing Those "Other" Reception Tables

When it's time to discuss linens for your wedding or event with the catering or banquet manager, the main focus tends to be the guest tables and head or sweetheart table.  These tables, along with the centerpiece, become the main focus for reception shots capturing the details of your wedding.  But in tying to create a cohesive environment, don't forget the other tables within the reception space.  Take a look at the list of those "other" tables:

Below are tables that you don't want to forget to cover at your wedding reception or event.  Although these tables can use a less expensive linen, you want to make sure they still match and work within the enviornment you are creating.
  • Cocktail - hiboys and cabaret tables
  • Buffet or Station tables
  • Escort Card table
  • Gift table
  • Cake table
  • Sweet and Dessert tables
  • Coffee and Tea station tables
  • Bars
  • DJ table

CSW: Wedding Splurges That Are Worth It

There are some details of wedding planning that you don't want to skip.  I completely understand the need to stay on task and within your budget when deciding on details for your ceremony and reception.  Chicago Style Weddings invited me to give some advice on splurges to make in creating your fabulous wedding day.  Take a look:

"Don't leave the cake table naked, " says Desiree' Moore Dent of Dejanae Events. "Dress it up with elaborate linens, candles, flowers and a cake stand -- because the wedding cake is the focal point of the reception."

Why is lighting so important? "It can truly transform almost any ceremony or reception space, " says Dent.

...I Found It, You Pin It...Friday!

I love the GLAMOUR and SEXINESS of the sequin black linens, but what really sends it over the top is the lemon-colored satin napkin!  HAUTE with that gorgeous orchid placed perfectly on top with the modern menu peaking out of the napkin. MODERN ELEGANCE at it's BEST!

Sparkle and Shine on Your Wedding Table

Today's blog post was inspired by adding some glitz and glam to your wedding & event tables.  Although you may not be able to afford to "glamorize" the entire space, pick a few items that will add some POP aka WOW Factor to your guest tables.  Check out some of the ideas below:

Check out this fabulous charger that would sparkle and shine on any guest table

Serve your signature drink or champagne in sparkling flutes

Can't afford glitzy table linen, add a sparkling table runner

Instead of glass votive candle holders, select a sparkling crystal holder

WOW Factor at it's finest...sparkling floor-length table linens!!!

And a special note to those shopping for wedding decor...the holidays bring bling!  You can easily pick up chargers and sparkling candle holders to add that punch to your guest tables.

Ruffles Ruffles Everywhere!

If you haven't seen the latest wedding trend, today I'm going to ruffle your feathers and show you. This uber feminine look is increasing on the runways, decor and even wedding cakes.  Ruffles, probably as girly as pigtails, has truly taken charge in 2012.  Check out a few of the ideas below on where you can utilize ruffles :)

Ruffle detailing on a wedding cake.
So gorgeous it doesn't even need a topper!

Adding textured linens throughout the reception space speaks volumes!

"Ruffled" bouquet handles created from ribbon for these gorgeous roses.

Gorgeous, yet simple, ruffled clutch would make a sweet bridesmaid gift
or be perfect for your bridal accessories.
Wedding gowns with pick-ups are being replaced by piles of ruffles!

Dressing The Tables

Today's blog was inspired by the design I'm doing for one of our July couples who selected chocolate, ivory and coral as their wedding colors.  As I thumbed my way through table linen swatches, it dawned on me that some couples might not know the diminisions of linens needed for particular tables.

Below are some linen basics:

6' banquet table - seats 4-6 people - 90x132 banquet size to the floor on all sides

8' banquet table - seats 4-6 people - 90x156 banquet size to the floor on all sides

60" round - seats 8-10 people - 120" round will go to the floor

72" round - seats 10-12 people - 132" round will go to the floor

Lo-boy or Caberet
36" round - seats 2-4 people - 96" round will go to the floor
48" square - seats 4 people - 120" to 132" round will go to the floor and you will have to tuck edges

Hi-boy
36" round - seats 2-4 people - 132" round to create hour-glass shape tied with a chair sash
