Day #12 - Gorgeous Place Setting Inspiration

The table setting is just as important as the fabulous centerpiece you place on the reception guest tables.  These photographs share some grogeous looks using menu cards napkins, chargers, flatware, stemware, china.  Which design will you pull from for your wedding day?

Tablescape Design to Include a Rose

When adding the finishing touches to your tablescape design, don't forget about those WOW Factor elements that can truly make the table sing.  Take a look at how we designed this table in the client's red, black and white color scheme - black lamour napkin with a custom designed menu card by CT Designs Inc. sitting on a white 13" white base plate with silver rim.  But what I love the most is the lush red rose placed delicately on each napkin. LOVE IT!

...I Found It, You Pin It...Friday!

Today's PIN IT PIC is actually none other than MY design!  I'm excited to share one of the photographs taken of my design featured in Chicago Style Weddings magazine called, "Refreshingly Simple".  What makes this photo such  a WOW FACTOR look is not the vibrant colors of aqua and lemon yellow.  Not even the modern approach the the stationery on the uniquely positioned napkin.  But the small details of adding a rock candy sucker and a ranaculus to the plate!  It's those tiny DETAILS that guests enjoy and really get excited about! Enjoy!

...I Found It, You Pin It...Friday!

I love the GLAMOUR and SEXINESS of the sequin black linens, but what really sends it over the top is the lemon-colored satin napkin!  HAUTE with that gorgeous orchid placed perfectly on top with the modern menu peaking out of the napkin. MODERN ELEGANCE at it's BEST!

Tulle Rules!

Tulle has made its comeback, but in my opinion it never left.  You'll still see tulle used in veils, wedding gowns and ceremony aisle draping, but I've found some fun and playful ways to add tulle to your wedding day and not break the bank.  Let me know what you think.

Tulle used as chair ties to create a wedding veil affect
Tulle used as napkin ties with a small embellishment added

Flower girl wand created from tulle

Tulle used as an illusion wrap to enhance this beautiful invitation

Tulle pom-poms used as wall decor

Napkin Grandeur (Day#22)

I've talked about napkins before in past posts about certain folds and adding embellishments so they'd pop on dinner plates.  But today's post will focus on some of my favorite folds...folds that are timeless and elegant for any style reception.  Now it's funny, my passion for napkins, but they play a major roll on the tablescape.  This simple square-shaped piece of material can add grandeur to any place setting.  Take a look:

Elongated fold on top of charger for long style menu card

Bow tie fold with the place card above the plate

Elegant pocket fold with a rose accent

Triple-fold that looks lovely with or without a menu card

***Side note - all napkin folds were apart of the designs I created along w/ the Flossmoor Country Club staff for their Open House this past November.

Jazzing Up Napkins

Here's a thought for those bride's wanting a completed design for their wedding reception tablescape, consider giving the napkin ring a roll. In thinking about the guests tables, the napkin plays a big role and can be presented in several different ways. I dedicated a blog to the napkin fold and today we'll focus on some ideas on presenting the napkin.

Using fabric in your wedding colors as a napkin ring will add a pop of color. This example used bandannas and buttons to create the look.

Using beads or a beaded hair accessory can really create an elegant napkin ring.

Gathering the napkin or placing a fresh flower on a simple fold is so delicate and romantic.

And should you want to bring whimsy to your tablescape, the use of pom-poms, feathers, and even candy can create a spectacular napkin ring.

The Role of the Napkin

Being creative with napkin folds is apart of the design when creating your reception tablescape. Most venues will provide your basic white or ivory table linens and napkins, and will fold them for free to your liking...if you ask. If they are unwilling, consider picking up the napkins a few days before the wedding and ask your bridesmaids to assist with the fold. And should you not be able to afford colored specialty table linens, consider getting colored napkins to add that punch to your guest tables. That way, whichever fold you decide will be more meaningful.

This fold can be consider your standard restaurant tri-fold, but a step above in my opinion especially with a colored napkin and place card siting upon the plate.

For a more clean, contemporary look, try placing the napkin on top, below or fold around the plate to add a 3-dimensional look to the table.

You could never go wrong having the menu card or reception program tucked away in the pocket-folded napkin. Even insert a floral bloom for an added punch of color.

Roll the napkin like a scroll and tie off with a colored ribbon. For a buffet or more casual affair, the flatware can be placed inside.

Should you want to add a bit of whimsy to your tablescape, tie the napkin in a knotted-fold and place across the plate.

Regardless which fold you consider, don't forgot the napkin and PLEASE don't have it hanging out the water glass :)
