Uncooperative Wedding Day Weather (Day #4)

We have no control of the weather when planning a wedding.  I'd like to think as a wedding planner that when we are speaking about your outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour, or reception, that the sun is going to shine on your union all day.  But I learned this year, in particular, that it can rain or be too cold to subject your guests to the elements.

So that is why it's extremely important to have a Plan B when planning any part of your wedding day outside.  The two biggest concerns should be: (1) Where on site can you host the ceremony and reception should you need to move indoors and (2) how much of advance notice does the venue need to have outdoor ceremony and/or reception moved to an indoor location?  Once you learn of this details, THEN consider your outdoor wedding.

Popular Low Centerpiece Option (Day #3)

When needing to save on cocktail hour and reception centerpieces, consider having some variation with high and low options.  Still one of the most popular and pretty low centerpiece options are submerged flowers in cylinder (or square) vases surrounded by votive candles.  In speaking with your floral designer, ask for flower options because not all flowers will work with this design and have at least two vases per table to avoid the centerpiece looking sparse when used on 60" or 72" round tables.

And to add a little more depth to the submerged centerpiece, sprinkle some rose petals around the base of the vases or use a fabric table runner to enhance the design.

Photography After The Ceremony (Day #2)

When deciding to take photos in between the ceremony and reception at least allot one hour for the photography session.  And should travel and multiple locations be involved, give yourself at least an hour-and-half.  Make sure to discuss the following with the photographer prior to the wedding (I suggest at least one month before) to ensure the best use of time:

• Scout photography locations near the wedding venue prior to wedding day and make sure to have the addresses handy on wedding day
• Reserve transportation for you, your spouse AND the photographer to get around especially if shooting in high traffic areas
• Make sure to factor in traffic and the time of day you are taking photos when planning out your photography timeline 
• Discuss a "Plan B" option should the locations you initially discussed are not available on wedding day or the weather is uncooperative

Pop of Color for the Bouquet (Day #1)

There are a lot brides that want a traditional bridal bouquet in white and ivory-toned flowers, but they still want to add a pop of color.  Consider asking your floral designer to add ribbon or fabric to the handle of your bouquet for that discrete amount of color, but still keeping with the classic look for your bridal bouquet.  Take a look below for a few ideas also featuring some lovely embellishments and unique ties:

Once Again...31 Days of Wedding Blogging!

Beginning tomorrow, I will be challenging myself to blog everyday for the entire month of December!  Once again, I'm very excited about the adventure as I initially challenged myself in December 2011 to get my blog "wheels" turning.  I'm asking for your support in sharing WEDology Blog with your peers and anyone you know who may be getting married.

With engagement season upon us, I'd like to give the newly engaged couples some thoughtful ideas when it comes to adding those small details...or should I say...finishing touches to her wedding day.  There will be no uniform order for the posts other than seeing a post every day during December at approximately 10:00amCST.

Your Best Face On Wedding Day

Brides are so focused on the wedding gown, that they tend to leave out other factors in creating their wedding day look.  The one I want to address in this blog post is wedding day make-up and prepping your skin.

• If you have skin issues, reach out to a dermatologist 5-6 months before the wedding to start a skincare regime.
• If you don't already...make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water
• Always have a make-up trial with the artist 3-4 months before your wedding, even if there is a fee involved involved.  You do not want to be shocked by your "look" on one of the most important days of your life.
• Speak with your make-up artist at least a month before the wedding to confirm date, time and location.
• Ask your make-up artist about the brand of lipstick you will be wearing on wedding day and purchase a tube for touch-ups.
• Never get a facial the day before or on your wedding day in case of breakouts or skin irritation.
• Have you wedding make-up applied at least one-hour before you are to put on your wedding gown.

Sarah Jassir 2015 Bridal Collection
