Day #3 - Not Your Ordinary Table Number

As you think of ways to personalize your wedding day, consider being creative when it comes to the reception table numbers.  Instead of using 1, 2, 3, etc., consider naming the tables places you ave visited as a couple or some of your childhood memories.  It's those special touches that create lasting memories for not only you, but also your wedding guests. 

Should you decide only to number the tables, go the extra mile and design a table number that correlates with your stationery suite or frame the table number.  That number will show up in some of your detailed reception shots and I'd hate for you to look back on your photos and see that plastic black & white number on the silver stand.  Trust me on this...you'll thank me later.

The Table Number Misconception (Day #30)

Honestly, in my opinion, it is not an option to opt out of having tables numbers on your reception tables.  They are soooooooooo important for the organization and seating of your wedding guests.  But every now and then, I get the very creative couples that want to name their wedding tables in place of using actual numbers.  Now although the idea truly adds a signature style to your wedding theme, it does make it a little difficult for your wedding planner, caterer and sometimes even your guests to locate their seats.

Picture this...the reception room is dimly lit with candles and/or up lighting and you have 100+ guests trying to find a table name written in a fancy font.  It's going to take a bit longer than if you used a number.  Plus numbers are what the caterers see most often so it makes the service run smoother.  But should you desire a table name, consider adding a number just below (or above) the name to avoid any confusion.

CSW Real Wedding: Niki and Dion

The DE Team is so excited to share the Real Wedding of Nikkol Palmer and Dion Turley featured under the Vendor Spotlight in Chicago Style Weddings.  I was delighted when the lovely Niki hired Dejanae Events to plan her and Dion's September wedding.  But what was most exciting was their color palette of Tiffany blue, apple red and white.  Take look at how it all came together at Flossmoor Country Club:

The chalkboard craze for wedding ceremony and reception decor is blowing up all over the place!  You don't have to be a D.I.Y. bride to consider adding some chalkboard elements to your wedding day.  Check out some of the fun ideas below that can be incorporated into your modern wedding style:

Table Number Scavenger Hunt

Table numbers play a major role on your tablescape.  They let the guests know which table they are seated :)  And when plotting out your stationery designs for your big day, they are certainly an item that should be cohesive with the table design.  And believe me, there are more whimsical ideas on how to incorporate the table number than just a plastic number in a silver stand...the standard fair you'll see at most banquet locations.  That is what lead me on a table number scavenger hunt for the 2nd time to bring a host of ideas when designing your tablescape.  Check out some of my favs below:

Use table number tents fashioned after your invitation design

Add some playfulness to the design w/ different size fonts or spelling the number out
I especially love the idea of the number on the cap of the chair

Frame the table number and back w/ patterned paper

Give the number meaning like this couple did...they met on the 5th day

Chalkboard picks make fabulous table numbers for and outdoor or rustic affair

Consider trips you and your fiancee' have taken and name the table after that location

How about the tables show photos of the both of you at that particular age,
or places you plan to visit, and for the DIY bride, make them yourself with colored coil

Let the table number double as a centerpiece
such as the design seen using this table number wrap

Or make them yourself w/ translucent paper, ribbon and a votive candle for illumination

Which Table?

I'm a stickler about not using a venues table numbers, especially if they are those black & white table numbers attached to silver stands..and your wedding colors aren't black and white. I speak about making your wedding signature and that concept goes all the way down to the smallest details, including table numbers.

There are many unique ways to number your guest tables - from the actual numbers or the use of table names of meaningful places you and your fiancee might have visited. And I love what a Dejanae Events couple did a couple years ago...they named their tables the word "love" in numerous languages. Check out some of the looks I found below:

DIY table numbers created from pink and chocolate card stock and embellished with paper flowers.

A table number label used in place of the wine bottle label.

A beautiful table number of red & white with the couples monogram. It blends beautifully with the tablescape.

A wooden table number that blends so nicely with the dainty centerpiece.
