Take a Stand on Wedding Day
2012 for Dejanae Events had to be the year of outdoor wedding ceremonies! I'm thankful for the GREAT weather we had each and every wedding we coordinated. But the biggest challenge for most wasn't the weather...but the shoes sinking into the soft soil and running the bride and/or bridesmaids shoe heels. So ask me the question, "how can this be avoided?"
I love this idea I found on Pinterest awhile back. The bridesmaids are standing on "flat" stones just as poised as ever! Oh and if there is any confusion as to wear to stand...follow the stones.
Or consider purchasing what I find to be the most fabulous product on the planet... Sole Mates!!! These fabulous little gems cover the bottom portion of the heel. So now you can stand firm and safely in grass, on uneven pavement, gravel...practically anywhere and they cost as little as $10. Check them out at The SoleMates.

Honeymoon Preparations
Most couples are planning their honeymoon during the same time as they are planning their wedding ceremony and reception. But the biggest difference I've noticed is...they don't get completely stressed out by it! Probably has to do with the fact they couples are selecting places they have never been, have warmer weather and the wedding planning stress is a thing of the past. Some of the most popular honeymoon destinations are the Caribbean, Hawaiian Islands, Mexico, Tahiti, Fiji, Florida Keys and cruises.
Well when planning your honeymoon, here are a few things you should consider:
(1) Before
making your selection, list the places you have traveled and what you
enjoyed about them. (2) Then list the places you'd like to visit. (3) Lastly ask
yourself the following questions - What do you want to do when you get
there? Do you prefer a hotel or resort?
After you have booked your travel:
- Get your passport!!! You can get the necessary paperwork from the US Post Office or online at http://www.usps.com/.
- Book dinners, spa services and sports activities at least 2-months in advance of your departure date.
- Confirm arrangements a month before and pack a list of items you will be taking to ensure you don't forget anything.
- Lastly, make copies of all your important documents (passport, insurance card, etc.) in case something gets lost or stolen while on your honeymoon.

...I Found It, You Pin It...Friday!
My jaw always drops from the stunning beauty of the eggplant calla lily! So imagine my face when I found this GORGEOUS bouquet of beautiful plum-colored callas with just a touch of BLING peeking through the blooms. And then the bouquet becomes that WOW FACTOR moment to see it tied with satin ribbon finished off with not one, but THREE bling buttons! YES!!!

The Language of Invitations
When preparing your invitation ensemble and the wording to excite your guests about the upcoming nuptials, there are some things you should pay close attention to:
- If there are parental contributions, be respectful and discuss the invitation verbiage with your parents. The norm use to be that the bride's parents were the hosts of the wedding and reception and therefore, their names appeared on the invitation. Not always the case anymore. The groom's parents my be contributors or the bride and groom might be funding the nuptials themselves.
- Listing your registry information or stating to your guests that you only want monetary gifts (wishing well) within your invitation ensemble is poor etiquette. That type of information can be expressed verbally through parents, bridal party members, or list it on your wedding website.
- Mail your invitations at minimum 8 weeks before your wedding date with the respond date listed 2-3 weeks before the wedding date. This will allow enough time to get those infamous seating arrangements together.
- Spell out all dates, times and places on the wedding invitations. Example - Saturday, May twenty-ninth, Two thousand and twelve, Four-thirty in the afternoon, Swissotel Chicago.
- If you are not inviting children to the wedding reception, it is appropriate to say "Adult Reception" or address the invitation to the parents only - "Mr. & Mrs. Doug Johnson" instead of "Johnson Family".
- It's a thoughtful gesture to allow single individuals to bring a guest by stating "Miss Brenda Douglas and Guest", but if you can't afford the additional plate, don't sweat it...invite just Brenda.

Wedding Chair Sign Frenzy!
![]() |
| Dejanae Events |
Just had a wonderful wedding weekend with the cutest chair signs created by CT Designs, Inc. This fun crazy is taking over wedding reception chairs near and far. And it's a wonderful final touch to your already personalized wedding reception. How do you like these lovely backers?
I asked Saturday's groom did he pay attention to what the chair signs read and he states, "Yep! It's going to be like that forever :)"
For additional chair fashion ideas check out this blog post, too.

...I Found It, You Pin It...Friday!
Gorgeous is the BLING that surrounds the vases holding the lush purple hydrangea. STUNNING are the crystal candle holders. WOW FACTOR is the mirrored table number placed so carefully on a dainty silver stand! I am simply in love with this idea and how it completes the tablescape!
